Head of Radar Engineering

About the role

As Head of Radar Engineering you will lead the development and delivery of advanced radar capabilities, overseeing architecture, design, simulation, integration, testing and lifecycle support. The role is strategic, building high‑performing multidisciplinary teams and shaping the radar technology roadmap for defence and aerospace programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the Radar Engineering function across design, simulation, integration, validation and lifecycle support.
• Define and govern radar system architecture ensuring coherence across RF, antenna, digital, software and systems domains.
• Establish technical strategy, capability development plans and technology roadmap aligned with company and programme objectives.
• Plan and manage engineering resources, budgets and priorities to meet delivery, quality and customer requirements.
• Oversee performance assessment for radar metrics such as range, Doppler, SNR, detection probability and ECCM performance.
• Act as primary technical interface with executive management, program managers, customers, suppliers and government representatives.
• Ensure compliance with MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑461, AQAP and internal engineering governance frameworks.
• Lead risk management, define mitigation strategies and drive continuous improvement of engineering processes.

Required profile

• 12+ years of radar engineering experience, with at least 5 years in senior leadership or management roles.
• Proven success in radar system design, simulation, integration and delivery within defence or aerospace programmes.
• Hands‑on experience with radar test equipment such as network analyzers, spectrum analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Strong background in modelling and simulation tools (MATLAB/Simulink, Python, ADS, CST).
• Experience managing engineering resources, schedules and technical performance across multiple projects.
• Familiarity with systems engineering processes, requirements traceability and verification/validation matrices.
• Excellent communication, leadership and decision‑making skills, able to represent the company at executive and customer levels.
