Head of Secondary Science (Starting September 2026)

About the role

The new secondary campus of GEMS Royal Dubai School will open in September 2026. We are seeking a dynamic Head of Secondary Science to lead the department and teach across Key Stage 3, progressing to Key Stages 4 and 5. This role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on classroom practice to deliver outstanding science outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the secondary science department, setting vision and standards.
• Teach science across Key Stage 3 and gradually across Key Stages 4 and 5.
• Design and deliver high‑quality, engaging lessons that meet NCfE standards.
• Analyse student data to personalise learning and drive progress.
• Collaborate with colleagues to share best practice and develop interdisciplinary projects.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of exam boards, pathways and assessment requirements.
• Promote a culture of high performance, reflection and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Recognised UK teaching qualification with QTS.
• Proven track record of raising academic standards in science.
• Self‑motivated, solution‑focused and reflective practitioner.
• Strong leadership impact and ability to inspire staff and students.
• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.

Required skills

• Deep subject knowledge of science across Key Stages 3‑5.
• Expertise in exam board requirements and pathways for Key Stages 4‑5.
• Effective use of student performance data to inform instruction.
• Ability to deliver outstanding teaching and learning experiences.
