Head of Year (Primary) - AY 2027/2028

About the role

Aldar Academies is seeking a Head of Year (Primary) for Bateen World Academy, located in central Abu Dhabi, starting in the 2027-2028 academic year. The school is a British and IB World School offering the IB Primary Years Programme (FS1 to Year 6) and the IB Diploma and Career-related programmes in Years 12 and 13. Successful candidates will be closely aligned with the school's core values and understand the values of the region.

Key responsibilities

• Plan teaching and learning in line with the school's Teaching and Learning Policy, setting clear objectives and targets and differentiating for SEN, EAL and G&T students
• Structure lessons and learning activities, use assessment for learning and performance data, and make effective use of ICT
• Maintain discipline according to the Behaviour for Learning Policy and mark students' work at least once every two weeks
• Record student progress systematically, assess students as requested by examination bodies, and prepare informative reports for parents
• Support parent and student events, take part in subject development and keep subject knowledge up to date through CPD
• Lead or support one after-school CAS activity each term, act as Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor for Year 12/13, cover absent colleagues, invigilate exams and carry out other duties assigned by the Principal

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Primary Education
• At least 3 years of teaching experience
• Very good or outstanding teacher with experience across an ability range and in more than one international school
• Experience teaching PYP or the British curriculum, and knowledge of UAE Ministry of Education and ADEK regulations
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check; offers subject to satisfactory references and police clearance
