Health Safety Environment Officer

About the role

Provide continuous field‑level HSE monitoring, coaching and compliance support to ensure site activities are performed safely and in line with approved procedures and project requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine inspections of work areas, access routes, tools, equipment, scaffolds, housekeeping, PPE and welfare conditions.
• Verify permits and approved RAMS are available and understood before high‑risk activities begin.
• Facilitate toolbox talks, safety briefings and task‑specific awareness sessions, maintaining attendance records.
• Intervene immediately in unsafe acts or conditions and escalate serious risks following stop‑work procedures.
• Monitor work‑at‑height, hot work, lifting, confined space, excavation, electrical and other construction activities.
• Record safety observations, near misses and non‑compliances and follow up corrective actions to closure.
• Support incident investigations by securing evidence, collecting statements and maintaining documentation.
• Check firefighting equipment, emergency arrangements, first‑aid provisions and evacuation routes.
• Maintain inspection checklists, PTW records, training logs and daily HSE reports.
• Coordinate with supervisors, foremen and subcontractor representatives to improve safe work practices.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Safety, Engineering or a related discipline with recognized HSE certification.
• Minimum 5 years of construction HSE experience, preferably on MEP/building projects.
• NEBOSH IGC or equivalent certification is strongly preferred/required.
• Practical knowledge of construction hazards, PPE, PTW, work‑at‑height, lifting, hot work and housekeeping controls.
• Ability to identify unsafe conditions, communicate corrective actions and maintain accurate records.
• UAE/GCC site experience and good English communication skills.
