Heavy Lifting Department Head

About the role

Wood is seeking an experienced Heavy Lifting Department Head to lead heavy lifting and equipment‑related construction activities for an ADNOC project based in Habshan, Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and supervise heavy lifting operations, including mobilization, installation, operation and demobilisation of equipment.
• Ensure lifting activities follow approved plans, method statements and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with construction, engineering, planning, HSE and subcontractor teams to ensure smooth execution.
• Monitor subcontractor performance and compliance with ADNOC standards.
• Verify certification, inspection and fitness‑for‑purpose of all lifting equipment and accessories.
• Review and approve lifting plans, crane studies and rigging arrangements.
• Track construction progress, report risks, delays and issues to the Project Management Team.

Required profile

• Degree in Engineering, Construction or a related technical discipline.
• 20‑25 years of Oil & Gas/construction experience, including 10+ years in heavy lifting.
• Extensive brownfield lifting experience on ADNOC facilities, especially Habshan Complex.
• Proven leadership of heavy lifting teams and complex operations.
• Strong knowledge of ADNOC STD CP‑19 requirements and international lifting standards.
