Hostess, Noor Lounge (Russian Speaking)

About the role

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira, Dubai, is looking for a Hostess to join its Noor Lounge team. The hostess takes reservations for the outlet and, if required, for other outlets, manages and maintains the reservation system including guest preferences, and welcomes and escorts guests to delight and satisfy them. She also helps with operational tasks under the guidance of the outlet manager.

Key responsibilities

• Take reservations by phone, email, online booking applications and in person, and reconfirm them by phone or email before service
• Update the reservation system with an accurate table count and available tables
• Ensure menus are accurate, clean and complete, and recommend and up-sell beverages, passing orders to the waiter
• Handle billing and cashiering tasks where required, and refer unresolved guest complaints to the Outlet Manager
• Keep public areas and the bathroom clean during operation, and report special guest needs such as allergies to superiors and the kitchen
• Assist colleagues with service procedures, communicate clearly with guests and colleagues, and report critical situations such as intoxicated or aggressive guests to managers or security
• Follow grooming and appearance standards, and create moments of delight for guests

Required profile

• High school qualification or equivalent preferred; degree or higher national diploma in hospitality/hotel/business management preferred
• At least 2 years' experience as a Hostess in a luxury hotel environment
• Experience as a Hostess in a high-volume restaurant with high levels of service preferred
• Ability to work long hours with a focus on operational excellence
• Good verbal and written English; Russian is preferred

Required skills

• Familiarity with table management system procedures preferred
• Knowledge of bar service procedures and standards preferred
• Basic computer skills including MS Office
• Ability to handle telephone calls and written correspondence properly
