HSE Manager - Main Contractor (3-6 Month Contract)

About the role

A main contracting client in Dubai needs an experienced HSE Manager to join its team on new mid-rise tower and major villa masterplan projects. The position is offered through J10 Consulting on a 3-6 month outsourced contract, with the option to transfer to staff after 6 months. Candidates should have a proven background as HSE Manager on high-profile UAE projects, with previous approval for Emaar Projects highly advantageous.

Key responsibilities

• Support top management on HSE policy, guidelines, management system standards and safety roles and responsibilities
• Ensure implementation, updating, review and auditing of the company's HSE systems in line with corporate guidelines
• Monitor safety and environmental procedures and update them with changes in legislation and company directives
• Motivate and familiarise all personnel with compliance with safety procedures and equipment
• Assist the commercial, engineering and operations departments on health and safety matters with clients
• Conduct internal and external safety audits and audit sub-contractors
• Take part in accident and incident investigations and analyse incident statistics to suggest improvements
• Provide technical safety support to senior management, carry out in-house safety training and perform risk assessments
• Prepare health and safety documentation for tenders and advise on plans and procedures for project start-up
• Take part in HAZOP meetings before procurement and installation

Required profile

• Bachelor degree in science or engineering or equivalent, with professional qualifications in HSE and fire and safety management systems
• 10+ years of experience in health, safety and environment
• Experience on villa, mansion and residential projects and large-scale civil construction
• Experience performing safety audits and presenting results to operational teams
• Experience working for a self-performing main contractor; NEBOSH IDP level 6 highly advantageous

Required skills

• Knowledge of HSE management systems, environmental discharges, incident command system, incident investigation (Tripod Beta tool), HSE auditing techniques, HEMP and radiological safety
• Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and databases, with ability to learn tools such as Procore and labor charts
