Hydraulics Technician – SMP 1 (Day Shift)

About the role

The role involves maintaining and optimizing the fluids and hydraulics systems of a steel plant to minimise downtime and support continuous production. The technician will work on day‑shift operations, ensuring equipment reliability while adhering to safety and cost‑conscious practices.

Key responsibilities

• Execute scheduled, preventive and corrective maintenance on all hydraulics equipment to optimise production and minimise downtime.
• Troubleshoot breakdowns, identify root causes and implement corrective actions for mechanical and hydraulic systems.
• Monitor hydraulic system performance, report abnormalities and coordinate repairs with supervisors.
• Inspect equipment to ensure compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations.
• Support senior Fluids & Hydraulics staff in technical matters and coordinate with other departments.
• Follow established maintenance standards and health, safety and environmental procedures.

Required profile

• ITI qualification in Mechanical Fitter trade.
• 3–8 years of mechanical maintenance experience in a steel plant, including work with hydraulic equipment.
• Supplier training on fluids & hydraulics equipment is a plus.

Required skills

• Predictive and preventive maintenance of fluids and hydraulics systems.
• Troubleshooting of hydraulic equipment.
• Interpretation of engineering drawings and hydraulic circuit diagrams.
