Inclusion Assistant (UAE National) - Virginia American School

About the role

Aldar Education is hiring an Inclusion Assistant (Special Education Needs Assistant) for Virginia American School in Abu Dhabi, starting October 2026. The role supports pupils with additional needs so they can take part in school activities, and works closely with homeroom and subject teachers.

Key responsibilities

• Support individual pupils, in groups or alone, inside and outside the classroom so they can take part in school activities
• Be proactive about health and safety and follow school policies and legislation
• Help implement individual education programmes linked to IEP goals and monitor progress
• Support pupils' academic, physical, emotional and behavioural needs and help develop their social and communication skills
• Assist teachers with pupil records and prepare differentiated resources for the curriculum
• Teach strategies that promote independence
• Give individual or group instruction, demonstrate activities, check and correct work, keep pupils on task and report progress to teachers
• Prepare materials to scaffold learning, supervise pupils in class and specialist lessons, and take part in SaLT, OT and ABA therapy interventions
• Take part in ECA, trips and visits; experienced assistants may mentor new ones

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in a related subject with an appropriate SEN / inclusion qualification
• Minimum 2 years of experience as an SEN / inclusion assistant
• Clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check
• Previous experience with students whose first language is not English
