Inspector – Water Distribution Network

About the role

The Inspector will support the Resident and Assistant Resident Engineers in supervising the construction of water distribution networks for a major utility client in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The role involves daily site inspections, ensuring works comply with approved drawings, specifications, standards and health‑safety regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise water network installation activities including excavation, pipe laying, thrust restraint, chambers, valves, fire hydrants and backfilling.
• Carry out day‑to‑day site inspections, flag deviations and coordinate corrective actions with the Assistant Resident Engineers.
• Verify compliance with drawings, specifications, inspection and test plans, and industry standards, and attend pressure testing, flushing and water‑quality sampling.
• Inspect delivered materials for damage and contractual compliance before incorporation.
• Maintain accurate daily field logs, photographic records and inspection reports, and raise non‑conformance reports as needed.
• Monitor protection of existing utilities, ensure QA/QC and HSE conditions are met, and participate in HSE walkthroughs and audits.

Required profile

• Minimum Engineering degree (BE or BSc) in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, certified by the Ministry of Higher Education.
• At least 2 years of site inspection experience, preferably in consultancy on water‑network projects.
• Fluent English reading and writing, available full‑time and willing to work a six‑day week on site.

Required skills

• Sound knowledge of water network systems and associated civil works.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications and inspection/test plans.
• Experience with trenching, excavation, shoring and backfilling processes.
• Good knowledge of HSE requirements for confined spaces, excavation, lifting and work at height.
• Familiarity with client specifications, international standards and OSHAD Codes of Practice.
