Interior Designer

About the role

Emirates Investment Corporation is hiring an Interior Designer who designs interior spaces in new and renovated buildings, meeting both functional and aesthetic goals. The designer also researches and purchases furnishings and fittings and builds a corporate and individual client base. The position reports to the Design Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Design interior spaces, including permanent architectural details and temporary elements, and sketch preliminary design plans including electrical layouts
• Create idea boards and communicate design concepts to clients through regular meetings and conferences
• Produce sketches, drawings and floor plans using computer-aided design programs and hand drawing
• Select design strategies and colour palettes, and improve functionality by modifying architectural elements and arranging furnishings, artwork and decor
• Specify materials and furnishings such as lighting, furniture, wall finishes, flooring and plumbing fixtures
• Create project budgets covering materials and labour, negotiate pricing, and prepare BOQs and costings
• Set project timelines, coordinate work activities, vendors and contractors, and maintain relationships with them
• Research trends and developments in interior design and architecture, and adhere to national and local building and safety codes
• Work with architects, artists, contractors, painters, upholsterers and building inspectors, and follow the Chairman's directions outside business-as-usual activities

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interior Design or Architecture
• 5-8 years of experience as an Interior Designer in the Gulf (preferable)
• Strong project management skills, able to take initiative, manage resources and meet tight deadlines
• Self-starter who can work independently and in team, with excellent written and oral communication skills

Required skills

• Excellent knowledge of design and visualization software such as CAD, 3Dmax or similar
• ArchiCAD, AutoCAD, SketchUp, Lumion 3D, V-Ray and Photoshop
• Experience preparing BOQs and costing
