Inverter Specialist

About the role

The Inverter Specialist will work on cutting‑edge inverter technologies (both string and central) for large‑scale renewable energy and storage projects. Reporting to the Head of the Centre of Excellence (Renewable BU), the role involves monitoring inverter performance on site and providing technical support throughout design, commissioning and operation phases.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse and optimise inverter performance, including fault analysis and thermal management.
• Collaborate with the Contracts/Tender team and the EDRC design team to align technical solutions with cost and compliance requirements.
• Ensure grid‑code compliance for voltage regulation, frequency control, reactive power support and fault‑ride‑through.
• Develop and validate control algorithms for power conversion systems (PCS) to meet performance and reliability targets.
• Provide technical guidance during system design, commissioning, and ongoing optimisation.
• Support field teams with troubleshooting, maintenance and performance improvement initiatives.
• Lead value‑engineering studies to enhance system efficiency and reduce lifecycle costs.

Required profile

• Strong background in power electronics, especially inverters, DC‑DC and AC‑DC converters.
• Familiarity with renewable energy and energy‑storage applications.
• Good understanding of grid‑code requirements and power system protection.
• Ability to work across multidisciplinary teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
