Investment Expert

About the role

The United Arab Emirates University, Department of Family Medicine, is hiring a full-time Investment Expert in Abu Dhabi. The role develops and implements short- and long-term investment strategies that increase the university's non-government income, covering fixed income, equities, real estate, private equity and investment partnerships.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement short- and long-term investment strategies that increase the university's non-government income.
• Identify and evaluate income-generating investment opportunities across suitable asset classes, and manage short-term investments to optimise returns while keeping enough liquidity for operations.
• Conduct financial analysis, feasibility studies, due diligence and risk assessments for proposed investments.
• Recommend asset allocation, diversification and portfolio rebalancing, and monitor performance against targets and benchmarks.
• Evaluate fund managers, investment advisors and strategic partners, and set investment policies and controls for governance, compliance and capital protection.
• Prepare regular reports on opportunities, performance and risks for executive leadership and the Board of Trustees, and work with finance, legal and strategy to implement approved investments.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or a related field; Master's or CFA preferred.
• Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in investment management or corporate finance.
• Demonstrated success in developing profitable short- and long-term investment opportunities.
• Experience in institutional, endowment, sovereign or university investment environments is an advantage.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of investment instruments, portfolio management, financial modelling, risk management and due diligence.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to present clear investment recommendations to executive leadership and governing bodies.
