IT System Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced IT System Engineer to join our team and support the installation, configuration, integration, testing, and maintenance of IT systems onboard naval vessels. The successful candidate will perform hardware inspections, install IT equipment, configure software and network infrastructure, and verify the proper operation of installed systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform hardware inspections and install IT equipment onboard naval vessels.
• Configure, deploy, and maintain software systems and network infrastructure.
• Verify the proper operation of installed systems and their integration with other onboard equipment.
• Conduct system tests and support commissioning and acceptance activities.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of IT systems and equipment.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, operating system, database, and network-related issues.
• Provide on‑site technical assistance to customers and project stakeholders.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation related to installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, IT, Telecommunications, Electrical & Electronics Engineering or related field, or equivalent technical qualification with hands‑on experience.
• Previous hands‑on experience in IT systems installation, field service, maintenance or technical support, preferably with complex IT systems.
• Ability to work independently, manage tasks and take responsibility for technical activities.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proactive and adaptable approach.

Required skills

• Good understanding of networking technologies (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, routing, switching) and network troubleshooting.
• Experience with relational databases and basic database administration.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies and virtual machines.
• Proficiency with Linux and Windows operating systems.
• Skill in Bash, command‑line tools and basic scripting.
• Experience in hardware installation, configuration, inspection and troubleshooting.
• Ability to read, prepare and maintain technical documentation.
• Competent use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
