Junior Legal Counsel – Legal Department

About the role

We are seeking a Junior Legal Counsel to join our Legal Department and provide proactive advisory support for banking transactions, product development and strategic initiatives. The role involves close collaboration with senior lawyers and business stakeholders to minimise legal risk and ensure regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Support UAE banking transactions, working with the legal team and internal stakeholders.
• Assist the Head of Advisory on syndications, derivatives and structured finance matters.
• Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements such as software licences, services, procurement and subscription contracts.
• Prepare and negotiate lending and security documentation, including credit facilities, term loans, assignments, pledges and movable security agreements.
• Apply knowledge of Islamic finance structures (Ijara, Murabaha) and UAE corporate, commercial, financing and security law.
• Identify and communicate legal and regulatory risks early, proposing mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate across legal, business and functional teams to ensure smooth execution of mandates.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in law or equivalent with admission to practice in any jurisdiction.
• 2–5 years post‑qualification experience in banking and finance, preferably with exposure to both private practice and in‑house environments.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Arabic.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Islamic finance documentation (Ijara, Murabaha).
• Familiarity with UAE corporate, commercial, financing and security legislation.
