Junior Mechanical Engineer - Oil & Gas

About the role

Worley, a global energy, chemicals and resources company, is hiring a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support mechanical engineering activities for Oil & Gas projects. The role covers design, engineering, procurement, construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning, working under the guidance of senior engineers and in line with project specifications, codes and standards, HSE requirements and client requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Support engineering of static and rotating equipment such as pumps, compressors, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, tanks and packaged equipment.
• Assist in preparing and reviewing equipment datasheets, technical specifications, material requisitions and engineering calculations.
• Evaluate mechanical equipment and vendor proposals, and review vendor drawings, datasheets and calculations.
• Review P&IDs, equipment layouts, mechanical drawings and equipment interfaces, and coordinate with Process, Piping, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Instrumentation, HSE, Procurement and Construction.
• Take part in design reviews, 3D model reviews, constructability reviews and technical coordination meetings.
• Help resolve technical queries during engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction and commissioning, and monitor manufacturing, inspection, testing, delivery, installation and preservation.
• Participate in site inspections, installation checks, alignment activities, system walkdowns and mechanical completion.
• Support pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, performance testing and troubleshooting.
• Prepare technical reports, engineering registers, equipment lists, action trackers and project documentation, ensuring compliance with API, ASME, ADNOC/client specifications, QA/QC and HSE standards.
• Take part in technical training, mentoring and competency development as part of the UAE National development program.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent from an accredited university.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in the Oil & Gas or Petrochemical industry, including at least 2 years in the GCC region.
