Junior Mechanical Engineer – Steel Manufacturing

About the role

Careers International is looking for a fresher mechanical engineer to join its steel manufacturing operations in Dubai. The role supports the operation, maintenance and improvement of mechanical systems and equipment used in steel production, and suits recent graduates wanting hands-on industrial experience in a heavy manufacturing setting.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and support daily steel production and help keep rolling mills, furnaces, conveyors, compressors, pumps and hydraulic systems running smoothly
• Coordinate with production teams to minimise downtime
• Assist in preventive and breakdown maintenance, identify faults and support senior engineers in troubleshooting
• Maintain maintenance logs, checklists and service reports
• Support installation, alignment and commissioning of new machinery, and assist during shutdowns and major overhauls
• Follow safety standards and PPE requirements, take part in safety drills and toolbox talks, and ensure machines comply with safety and quality procedures
• Prepare basic technical reports and daily updates, maintain drawings, manuals and maintenance records, and help manage spare parts inventory
• Work with senior engineers, technicians and supervisors, and coordinate with electrical and production departments

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering; freshers are encouraged to apply
• Internship or industrial training experience is an advantage
• Willingness to learn and adapt, good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work in a factory environment, including shift duties and physically active tasks around high-temperature areas and heavy machinery

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics and machinery
• Understanding of maintenance practices and engineering drawings
• Familiarity with manufacturing or steel plant operations is a plus
