Junior Research Scientist – Stem Cell Biology

About the role

The Al‑Sayegh Lab at NYU Abu Dhabi seeks a Junior Research Scientist to join a team investigating molecular and cellular mechanisms of embryonic stem cell differentiation. The role involves contributing to stem‑cell and genomics projects, designing experiments, generating and analysing data, and collaborating closely with the Principal Investigator and other team members.

Key responsibilities

• Perform molecular and cell biology experiments, including maintaining mammalian cell cultures and supporting stem‑cell differentiation assays.
• Collect, analyse, and interpret experimental data; maintain accurate laboratory records and contribute to scientific presentations and manuscripts.
• Assist with day‑to‑day laboratory operations such as inventory management, ordering supplies, and ensuring compliance with research protocols.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Bioengineering, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology or a closely related field.
• Less than five years of professional experience; strong organizational, communication, and independent work skills.
• Demonstrated interest in scientific research and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Required skills

• Experience with mammalian cell culture.
• Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, Western blot, sequencing).
• Microscopy and quantitative data analysis skills.
• Basic computational or bioinformatics analysis capabilities.
