Kitchen & Laundry Technician

About the role

The Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah is hiring a Kitchen & Laundry Technician. The role covers responding to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance on kitchen and mechanical room equipment, and carrying out basic repairs and painting work while maintaining a professional relationship with guests.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to guest repair requests and communicate with guests and customers to resolve maintenance issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment and machines.
• Identify, locate and operate shut-off valves for equipment and utility shut-offs for buildings.
• Maintain maintenance inventory, requisition parts and supplies, and share daily activities and problems with other shifts.
• Carry out surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and replace light bulbs and A/C filters, then clean up the work area.
• Test, troubleshoot and repair equipment, plumbing (plunge toilets, unclog drains), electrical components, lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and replace switches and outlets.
• Program TVs, perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties, and use the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping and sprinklers, and enter work information on a computer.
• Follow safety and security policies, complete safety training, store flammable materials safely, and treat guests courteously.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Some experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation and painting.
• Hotel engineering or maintenance experience is a plus.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Driver's license.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry and kitchen equipment.
• Basic computer skills, such as inputting air handler schedules and changing temperatures.
