Kitchen/Laundry Technician

About the role

Fairmont Ajman, a beachfront 5-star hotel in Ajman, is looking for a Kitchen/Laundry Technician. The technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots and repairs kitchen and laundry equipment so that it runs safely, efficiently and reliably, minimising downtime and meeting hotel standards, safety requirements and manufacturer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance of kitchen and laundry equipment, including ovens, fryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dryers and ironing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, plumbing, heating and refrigeration equipment, replacing faulty components and testing repaired equipment before returning it to use.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and breakdowns from Kitchen, Stewarding, Housekeeping and Laundry, and attend urgent breakdowns during peak demand.
• Follow the preventive maintenance schedule, inspect equipment regularly, keep accurate records of maintenance and faults, and recommend replacements or major repairs.
• Work to safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and electrical safety, and report hazards such as gas or water leaks immediately.
• Support Engineering colleagues, assist contractors during servicing, and give technical input on new equipment installation and commissioning.
• Monitor equipment performance to reduce energy, water and maintenance costs, and avoid unnecessary part replacement.

Required profile

• Technical diploma or vocational qualification in Electrical, Mechanical, Refrigeration, HVAC or a related field.
• Previous experience in hotel engineering, commercial kitchen or laundry equipment, or a similar environment.
• Knowledge of refrigeration, plumbing, heating systems and basic controls is an advantage.
• Ability to read basic electrical diagrams and equipment manuals.
• Good problem-solving skills, ability to work independently and in a multicultural team, and good communication skills.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• Physical ability to work in hot, humid, noisy environments, at heights and in confined spaces, and to lift tools and equipment safely.
