Lab Technician Cum Plant Operator - Water & Wastewater Treatment

About the role

A Water & Wastewater Treatment team is looking for a qualified and motivated Lab Technician Cum Plant Operator. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in laboratory analysis, water chemistry, wastewater treatment processes and plant operations.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine water and wastewater quality analyses according to standard test methods.
• Perform water chemistry testing including pH, TDS, turbidity, alkalinity, hardness, COD, BOD, TSS and other parameters.
• Carry out jar tests to optimise chemical dosing and treatment performance.
• Monitor and adjust chemical dosing systems for coagulants, flocculants, disinfectants and other chemicals.
• Operate and monitor water and wastewater treatment plants, supporting biological treatment such as activated sludge systems.
• Operate, calibrate, maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and testing equipment.
• Record, analyse and report laboratory and operational data, and ensure compliance with safety, environmental and quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment plant operation and laboratory testing.
• Strong knowledge of water chemistry, wastewater analysis, biological treatment and chemical dosing.
• Experience with jar tests and interpreting treatment performance data.
• Good analytical, troubleshooting and reporting skills.

Required skills

• Familiarity with laboratory equipment, analytical instruments and standard testing procedures.
• Proficiency in MS Office.
• Preferred: knowledge of RO, UF, ETP, STP and WTP systems, and understanding of laboratory quality control and environmental regulations.
