Lab Technician

About the role

A skilled, responsible and detail-oriented Lab Technician is sought to perform laboratory tests, operate laboratory equipment, prepare samples and maintain accurate testing records. The role supports laboratory operations by following established procedures, maintaining safety standards and ensuring reliable test results.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, receive, label and prepare samples for laboratory testing.
• Perform routine laboratory tests and procedures according to approved protocols.
• Operate, clean and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Prepare reagents, solutions and testing materials as required.
• Record, review and maintain accurate laboratory results and documentation.
• Follow SOPs and quality control requirements, and ensure proper handling, storage and disposal of samples and materials.
• Monitor supplies and report shortages, and report equipment issues or testing irregularities promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness, organisation and safety, and follow infection control, health and safety procedures where applicable.
• Assist senior technicians and professionals, and maintain confidentiality of patient or client information.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Medical Laboratory Science or a relevant scientific field.
• Previous laboratory or healthcare experience preferred.
• Willingness to work shifts when required.
• For healthcare laboratory roles in Dubai, DHA, DOH or MOHAP licensing and eligibility requirements apply.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of laboratory testing procedures and sample handling.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment, instruments and safety practices.
• Understanding of quality control, documentation and SOPs.
• Good computer skills and ability to maintain digital laboratory records.
• Attention to detail, analytical and organisational skills, and good communication and teamwork.
