Laboratory Instructor – Computer Science & Engineering

About the role

The Laboratory Instructor will join the Computer Science and Engineering department at the American University of Sharjah, preparing and delivering hands‑on lab sessions for undergraduate courses. The role supports faculty in designing experiments, maintains lab equipment, and assists students with senior design projects.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver laboratory instruction for Computer Science and Computer Engineering courses.
• Collaborate with faculty to develop and update lab materials and experiments.
• Administer lab activities, grade assignments, and provide timely feedback.
• Supervise students professionally and support senior design project activities.
• Conduct regular equipment checks, manage orders, and ensure safety compliance.
• Assist with extracurricular technical activities and perform duties assigned by the Head of Department.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Strong English communication skills for explaining technical concepts and safety procedures.
• Ability to create clear technical documentation such as lab manuals and guides.
• Demonstrated accountability, service orientation, and commitment to staying current with emerging technologies.

Required skills

• Installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory equipment and computing systems.
• Knowledge of digital systems and microcontrollers (e.g., AVR).
• Proficiency with hardware peripherals and related software in an academic environment.
