Lathe Operator / Machinist

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group headquartered in the United Arab Emirates and based in Abu Dhabi, is looking for a Lathe Operator / Machinist. The main task is to operate lathe and milling machines and perform machining operations such as turning, boring, threading and facing to support production demand.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain safety standards by following OSHA rules and regulations.
• Operate manual lathes and milling machines to cut metal parts and install new parts and components where needed.
• Monitor machine performance to ensure normal operation.
• Follow safety procedures and protocols to minimise hazards.
• Coordinate work flow by communicating with other workers.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks to keep machinery running smoothly.
• Prepare materials for use on machinery by cutting, shaping and drilling them.

Required profile

• ITI in metal machining or lathe operation training at any institute.
• Preferred: 3 years of hands-on experience and proven experience operating a lathe machine.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
• Good understanding of mathematics and calculations.
• English proficiency is required for all roles.

Required skills

• Familiarity with general lathe and milling operations and mechanical skills.
• Reading of engineering drawings and specifications.
