Lead Backend Engineer (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Backend Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, efficient, and secure backend systems for a global technology leader. This fully remote position offers the chance to shape the software development lifecycle and drive architectural decisions across multiple product teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain high‑performance backend services using Java, Python, C++ and modern frameworks.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, and security teams to align on technical roadmaps and implementation plans.
• Define and enforce technical standards, best practices, and architectural guidelines.
• Conduct technical reviews, provide guidance, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
• Lead the creation of technical documentation and ensure compliance with security requirements.

Required profile

• Proven experience building large‑scale backend systems.
• Strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle and Agile methodologies.
• Excellent problem‑solving abilities and the capacity to analyze complex technical issues.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills for cross‑functional teamwork.
