Lead CNC Machine Operator

About the role

EDGE, an advanced technology group focused on defence and emerging technologies, is hiring a Lead CNC Machine Operator in Abu Dhabi. As Lead CNC Operator, you will be involved in machining setup and production, and supervise a team of CNC operators in their day-to-day work of producing parts to customer specifications. You interpret blueprints, sketches or other descriptions of parts to be machined from selected materials.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, run and maintain CNC horizontal and vertical milling and turning centers, including tooling, fixtures, jigs and jig fabrication.
• Supervise the CNC team and train others, ensuring operations meet a high standard.
• Follow NC management according to QMS requirements and participate in product problem solving.
• Maintain 5S and housekeeping, monitor attendance, and track OEE and scrap/rejection rates against KPIs.
• Enter SFC data and downtime daily, and report machine breakdowns and deficiencies immediately to the manager.
• Perform TPM and coolant monitoring, and carry out RCA and CAPA against NCRs.
• Handle raw materials and finished goods with a forklift, and do manual programming and small general work when needed.
• Take part in daily production meetings and maintain consumables.

Required profile

• Certificate or diploma in Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Preferred: minimum 10 years' experience as a senior CNC machine operator in aerospace, oil and gas or defence machining, or equivalent.
• Preferred: experience in aerospace, manufacturing, engineering or industrial environments.
• English proficiency required.

Required skills

• Strong CNC programming experience (a must).
• Computer programming and CAD/CAM software.
• Knowledge of machine shop equipment, tools and precision measuring devices.
