Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer (6‑Month Contract)

About the role

Lead, direct and oversee all Instrumentation & Control (I&C) engineering activities for on‑shore gas processing facilities, pipelines and wellhead systems throughout the FEED project lifecycle. Act as the discipline technical authority, ensuring safe, reliable, maintainable and cost‑effective solutions that meet client requirements and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the I&C engineering team, develop execution strategies, work plans and resource forecasts.
• Review and approve all I&C deliverables including instrument indexes, I/O lists, datasheets, specifications and control philosophies.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, piping, electrical and other disciplines to ensure seamless integration.
• Lead functional safety lifecycle activities in compliance with IEC 61508/61511, including SIL determination and safety requirement specifications.
• Monitor progress against schedules and budgets, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Minimum 16 years of I&C engineering experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or LNG sectors.
• At least 6 years in a lead or senior lead engineering role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics or related engineering discipline.

Required skills

• Design, specification and implementation of I&C systems and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
• Hazardous area classification, IECEx/ATEX certification and equipment selection.
• Experience with DCS, ESD, FGS, PLC, RTU, SCADA and telecommunications interfaces.
• Knowledge of standards such as API, IEC, ISA, ISO, IEEE, NFPA, NACE and BS EN.
• Proficiency in FEED and detailed engineering deliverables, MOC processes and project controls.
