Lead Internal Auditor

About the role

The Lead Internal Auditor supports the execution of the Internal Audit and Risk Assessment Plans by delivering assigned tasks efficiently and in line with established standards. The role ensures that audit procedures are properly conducted and documented according to the Internal Audit Manual and professional auditing practices, supporting governance and risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the internal audit team to carry out audit reviews in line with the audit plan, manual and professional standards.
• Prepare audit working papers in line with the manual and audit management system requirements.
• Communicate audit matters and emerging issues to the IA Director and keep the Director informed of engagement status.
• Ensure review notes are addressed before the end of each audit engagement.
• Draft audit findings and recommendations, discuss them with auditees and process owners under the IA Director's supervision, and agree on corrective actions.
• Assist the team in follow-up reviews of management action plans until satisfactory results are achieved.
• Take part in special assignments and ad-hoc requests, and help conduct risk assessments under the IA Director's supervision.
• Update risk registers periodically.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• 4-8 years of experience in internal auditing; Big 4 audit experience is a plus.
• Experience within the UAE or GCC is required.
• Professional certification (CIA, CPA, CISA, CFE, etc.) is advantageous.
• Clear oral and written communication in English.
• Integrity, professionalism, teamwork and a positive attitude.

Required skills

• Familiarity with internal auditing and accounting principles, and with risk and control principles.
• Knowledge of creating and updating risk registers.
