Lead Mechanical Engineer – Oil & Gas Static Equipment

About the role

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will own the technical integrity of mechanical engineering activities for static equipment in oil and gas projects. You will ensure compliance with quality management systems, project schedules and company standards while driving cost‑effective engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, review and approve mechanical drawings, specifications and datasheets for static and rotating equipment.
• Lead technical requisitions, bid evaluations, supplier interactions and documentation control.
• Manage budgets, resource deployment and progress reporting to the Lead Engineer and Project Manager.
• Coordinate punch‑list closure, HSEQ compliance and continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of mechanical engineering experience in upstream/downstream oil & gas.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.
• Strong knowledge of international mechanical codes and standards.

Required skills

• ASME Section VIII Div.1 & Div.2, TEMA, PD5500, API 650, 660, 661, 610, 674, 675, 676, 617, 618, 619, 672.
• Pressure vessel and rotating equipment design using Pv‑Elite, Compress, TANK and FEA tools.
• Static equipment design, layout development, skid‑based designs and material selection (CS, LTCS, SS, etc.).
• Technical documentation, specification writing and supplier technical bid evaluation.
