Lead Mechanical Engineer – Static Equipment (Oil & Gas)

About the role

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will own the technical integrity of static mechanical equipment for oil and gas projects. You will ensure quality compliance with company standards, governing regulations and project schedules while driving cost‑effective engineering solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, review and approve mechanical datasheets, specifications and detailed engineering documents for vessels, rotating equipment and associated systems.
• Lead technical bid evaluation, supplier qualification, and preparation of recommendation for award documents.
• Manage procurement support, resource deployment, budget analysis and progress reporting.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors and multidisciplinary teams to resolve technical deviations and ensure HSEQ compliance.
• Drive closure of punch lists, conduct inspections and support testing activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 + years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering within upstream and downstream oil & gas.
• Strong knowledge of international mechanical codes and standards (ASME, API, TEMA, PD5500, etc.).
• Proven ability to lead and mentor less‑experienced engineers.

• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) for static and rotary equipment.
• ASME Section VIII Division 1 & 2, API 650, 660, 661, 610, 674, 675, 676, 617, 618, 619, 672.
• TEMA, PD5500 standards application.
• Mechanical datasheet preparation and technical bid evaluation.
• Vendor management and supplier qualification.
• Layout development, skid‑based design and material selection (CS, LTCS, SS, etc.).
