Lead Metallurgist & Mineral Processing Engineer – MENA

About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced Lead Metallurgist / Mineral Processing Engineer to join StratumAI’s Technical Services team. The role focuses on geometallurgical modelling, resource evaluation, and integrating machine‑learning technology into client mining operations across the Middle East & North Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a growing metallurgical team, providing expertise on mineral processing methodologies and ensuring quality control of all geometallurgical models.
• Audit client geometallurgical (Kriging) models and evaluate Stratum’s newly generated ML models.
• Analyse complex mine site databases, report data issues, and support technical reporting.
• Collaborate with ML engineers, mine planners, and client metallurgists to optimise models for mine planning and mineral processing.
• Provide technical input to the Business Development team and assist in preparing technical reports and presentations.
• Implement rigorous audit and quality‑control procedures and ensure compliance with mining regulations (JORC, NI43‑101).
• Mentor junior metallurgists and mineral process engineers.

Required profile

• Tertiary qualification in Metallurgy or Mineral Process Engineering.
• 20+ years of mineral processing experience, including mill circuits, flotation and heap leach operations in open‑pit and underground environments.
• Extensive knowledge of copper and gold deposit types, and familiarity with ferrous, phosphate and critical metal deposits.
• Understanding of geometallurgical models and ore‑body knowledge.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Leadership qualities to manage a growing technical team.
• Valid motor‑vehicle licence and ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
