Lead Planner – Oil & Gas Projects

About the role

Wood is seeking a Lead Planner to support a downstream PMC project in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi. The role will drive the transition to Primavera P6 and ensure accurate scheduling, progress tracking and reporting across major oil and gas projects.

Key responsibilities

• Align with the Head of Projects to migrate scheduling from MS‑Project to Primavera P6.
• Prepare detailed project schedules and baselines for all major projects.
• Track progress using earned‑value techniques, CPI, SPI and provide regular status reports.
• Interface with customers, subcontractors and internal teams on schedule issues and reporting.
• Support quality control by managing inspection and testing schedules.
• Attend kick‑off and progress meetings, conduct site visits and monitor on‑site progress.
• Develop schedules for tendering, resource planning and inspection activities.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field with a focus on project management or scheduling.
• Minimum 5 years of lead planning experience on oil & gas projects.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Leadership and mentoring experience managing a team of planning engineers.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations for project planning in oil & gas.
• Project management or scheduling certification (e.g., PMP, PMI‑SP) is a plus.
