Lead Quantity Surveyor – Post‑Contract Commercial Lead

About the role

The Lead Quantity Surveyor will act as the post‑contract commercial lead on high‑value projects, overseeing a junior commercial team and ensuring accurate cost control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Assess tender BOQ against IFC drawings and update accordingly.
• Float enquiries, obtain final offers, and adjudicate quotations from the supply chain.
• Prepare sub‑contract and purchase orders, including drawings, programmes and BOQs.
• Detect and manage variations and changes in liaison with the project team.
• Negotiate and conclude variations, claims and extensions of time with subcontractors and clients.
• Prepare monthly project valuations and submit them to the employer on time.
• Procure required insurances and bonds, and issue monthly payment certificates to subcontractors.
• Handle contract administration, including drafting notices of delay, variations and claims.
• Undertake monthly cost reporting and budget forecasting with the project manager.
• Finalize subcontractor and employer accounts and manage commercial matters during the defects liability period.

Required profile

• Graduate in a construction discipline or equivalent.
• 7‑10 years of relevant experience, with at least 7 years in post‑contract quantity surveying.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a junior commercial team.
