Legal Counsel – Litigation (EEMEA)

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Legal Counsel specialized in Litigation to lead the coordination of its litigation strategy across Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EEMEA). The role will act as the central hub for significant disputes, regulatory investigations, enforcement actions and strategic litigation matters, ensuring consistent approach and proactive risk management.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate oversight of the EEMEA litigation portfolio, including commercial disputes, competition matters, regulatory investigations and strategic litigation.
• Maintain regional litigation trackers, dashboards and reporting mechanisms, escalating material developments and settlement opportunities.
• Assist in developing case strategies with internal legal teams and external counsel, gathering facts and shaping litigation themes.
• Monitor external counsel performance, budgets, forecasts and accruals, and support alternative fee arrangements.
• Prepare concise executive updates, litigation dashboards and board‑level briefing materials for senior leadership.

Required profile

• Strong experience in managing complex litigation and regulatory investigations across multiple jurisdictions.
• Excellent coordination and stakeholder‑management skills, working with internal legal, compliance, communications and public policy teams.
• Ability to analyse legal trends, assess emerging enforcement risks and develop strategic responses.

Required skills

• Proficiency in litigation management tools and dashboard reporting.
• Experience with external counsel engagement and cost‑management initiatives.
