Low-Latency Java Developer – Pricing & Risk
Sumara Technology · Dubai
Job description
About the role
Sumara Technology powers the technical infrastructure behind a leading real-time trading platform. It is looking for Low-Latency Java Developers for its Pricing & Risk team, which builds the core systems that process, price and publish live financial market data across FX, options, equities, crypto and commodities. The role suits engineers who enjoy performance-critical challenges and production-grade systems that directly affect trading.
Key responsibilities
- Design, implement and optimise ultra-low-latency pricing and risk components in Java.
- Develop and maintain the core pricing pipeline and multi-asset pricing services connected to market data vendors (FIX, TIBCO, Aeron, HTTP/WebSocket).
- Build and maintain vendor adapters for data ingestion and publishing bridges to downstream systems.
- Profile and tune performance at every layer.
- Work with pricing analysts, risk specialists and DevOps engineers to ensure stability and precision in live trading environments.
- Take part in code reviews, unit, integration and performance testing, and continuous delivery.
- Document system behaviour, configuration flows and new service patterns.
Required profile
- 3+ years of professional Java development experience, ideally in low-latency or high-throughput systems.
- Strong understanding of system design, fault tolerance and horizontal scalability.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively remotely; client is in the UK and works UK hours, so some alignment is preferred.
Required skills
- Modern Java (17 or 21) and multi-threaded concurrent programming.
- Lock-free architectures, LMAX Disruptor or similar high-performance patterns.
- Preferred: JVM internals, garbage collection tuning, performance profiling, Aeron, TIBCO Rendezvous, QuickFIX/J, FIX protocol, Spring Framework, UDP/TCP, SBE, Docker, Gradle, JUnit 5, CI/CD, monitoring tools such as Pulse, Grafana and Prometheus.
What we offer
- Competitive salary.
- Market-standard EOSB and health insurance.
- Team-building events, mentorship and opportunities for professional growth.
- Visa sponsorship by Sumara.
Hiring process: technical screening, non-technical interview with Sumara leadership, two technical interviews with the senior engineering team, then offer and onboarding.
