Machinist - HBM Operator (Oil and Gas Industry)

About the role

Sigma Engineering Works is seeking a skilled Machinist – HBM Operator to run CNC Horizontal Boring Machines in its Abu Dhabi machine shop, supporting the oil and gas sector.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, program and operate CNC Horizontal Boring Machines for large oil‑&‑gas components such as valve bodies, wellhead parts, flanges and spools.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, API specifications and customer requirements.
• Align, level and secure workpieces using precision fixtures, clamps and alignment tools.
• Select and install cutting tools, boring bars and tool offsets for alloy steels, stainless steels, Inconel and other materials.
• Edit CNC programs on‑machine for tool offsets, wear offsets and minor code changes.
• Perform boring, drilling, facing, milling, tapping and contouring operations to tight tolerances.
• Inspect finished parts with micrometers, bore gauges, dial indicators and CMM where required.
• Maintain compliance with API, ASME and customer quality standards and complete all production and inspection documentation.

Required profile

• Recognised Diploma from a Higher Technical College.
• Minimum five years of practical workshop experience, preferably in the oil & gas industry.
• Proven ability to operate HBM machines and read engineering drawings.
