Maintenance Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Maintenance Mechanical Engineer supports the safe, reliable and efficient operation of an oil and gas storage terminal in Dubai. The role covers maintenance supervision, troubleshooting, equipment reliability improvement and maintenance execution, ensuring work is engineered, planned, executed, inspected and documented in line with engineering standards, manufacturer recommendations, approved procedures and HSSE requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for preventive, predictive, corrective and breakdown maintenance of mechanical equipment and terminal infrastructure, and supervise activities on pumps, mechanical seals, valves, piping, loading arms and firefighting systems.
• Review work orders, technical scopes, spare parts needs, manpower and tools, and coordinate with Maintenance Planning and Operations on priorities, schedules and resources.
• Investigate equipment failures and abnormal conditions, support condition-based maintenance strategies, FMEA and RCM, and escalate asset integrity concerns.
• Develop and review maintenance procedures, work instructions, inspection checklists, drawings, P&IDs and technical documentation, and support Management of Change and technical risk assessments.
• Ensure compliance with HSSE requirements, permit-to-work, isolation procedures and life-saving rules, and exercise stop-work authority when needed.
• Supervise and train Maintenance Technicians and contractors, and coordinate with Operations, Procurement, Warehouse, HSSE and Projects.
• Monitor maintenance performance indicators, support budget preparation and spare parts review, and prepare engineering reports and failure analyses.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical maintenance engineering in oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery, bulk liquid storage terminals or similar process industries.
• Experience investigating failures, root cause analysis and reliability improvement.
• Knowledge of API, ASME and ISO standards, and familiarity with process safety, PTW, isolation and HSSE.
• Ability to read P&IDs and mechanical drawings; experience with HxGN, SAP or INFOR EAM is an advantage.
• Good written and verbal English.
