Master Technician - BYD Service Center

About the role

Al-Futtaim Automotive is hiring a Master Technician for its BYD service center in the UAE. The role combines advanced diagnostic and repair expertise with direct customer interaction, covering the full service journey from booking to vehicle handover. The technician works in the Aftersales team, alongside the Workshop Supervisor and other workshop staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the customer journey from service booking and appointment scheduling to handover and invoicing.
• Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, periodic maintenance and accessory fitment according to BYD repair manuals and standards.
• Use advanced diagnostic tools to identify and resolve vehicle faults efficiently.
• Follow the Fix It Right (FIR) process to meet first-time repair targets and customer satisfaction goals.
• Handle work orders, including warranty, goodwill, leasing and insurance documentation, and maintain accurate Electronic Vehicle Checks (EVC) and technical reports.
• Support workshop productivity targets and deliver vehicles within promised timelines.
• Maintain workshop tools and diagnostic equipment, and adhere to HSSE, 5S and BYD quality standards.
• Mentor junior technicians and contribute to technical capability development.

Required profile

• IMI Light Vehicle Master Technician (Level 3-4) or equivalent.
• Advanced OEM certification such as Diagnostic Master, Gold Technician, Level 3 or equivalent.
• 6-7 years of experience as a Light Vehicle Technician and 2 years as a Diagnostic Technician.
• Previous customer-facing automotive service experience or Service Advisor exposure is highly desirable; dealership experience preferred.
• Valid UAE driving license.

Required skills

• Advanced vehicle diagnostics and fault finding, and proficiency with OEM diagnostic systems and special service tools.
• Strong knowledge of automotive electrical, mechanical and electronic systems, and interpretation of wiring diagrams and repair manuals.
• Warranty procedures, repair processes and workshop operations.
• Good PC literacy and familiarity with Dealer Management Systems.
• Customer-facing communication, technical reporting and coaching of colleagues.
