Maternal & Fetal Medicine Consultant

About the role

The Hospital in Abu Dhabi is seeking a senior Maternal & Fetal Medicine Consultant to provide comprehensive, evidence‑based care for pregnant patients. The role involves leading clinical teams, supervising junior staff, and contributing to quality improvement and on‑call services.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based maternal‑fetal care, including diagnosis, management and treatment of complex obstetric cases.
• Conduct patient examinations, obtain histories, order and interpret investigations, prescribe therapies and develop treatment plans for both inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Supervise and train junior medical staff, including specialists, general practitioners and residents.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and participate in multi‑disciplinary meetings to ensure holistic patient management.
• Provide out‑of‑hours on‑call coverage on a rotational basis, including evenings, nights, weekends and public holidays.
• Document clinical information accurately and comply with hospital, Department of Health and SEHA policies, including infection control and patient safety standards.
• Participate in clinical audits, peer review and risk management initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, obtaining informed consent for procedures.

Required profile

• MBBS or equivalent with a postgraduate qualification (MD, MS, DNB) and recognized Fellowship/Board Certification in Maternal‑Fetal Medicine from a Tier 1 country.
• Minimum 3–7 years of post‑specialty clinical experience in a multidisciplinary setting.
• Eligibility for a valid DOH (Abu Dhabi) medical license, including primary source verification and, if required, the DOH exam.
• Fluency in English and Arabic; additional languages are an asset.
• Strong leadership, communication and problem‑solving abilities, with a commitment to continuous medical education.
