MDI CRA Pipe Laying Barge Inspector

About the role

Bureau Veritas is looking for an inspector for Corrosion-Resistant Alloy (CRA) pipe-laying barges in the oil and gas and petrochemical sector. The role covers vendor quality system requirements, material inspection, welding and NDT oversight, and reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Understand vendor and manufacturer quality system requirements and review vendor documents against purchase orders and material specifications.
• Carry out material receiving inspection of all permanent project materials supplied by the EPC contractor.
• Witness and verify procedure and welder qualifications, and review and approve inspection and test plans and material certificates.
• Monitor, inspect and approve welding, welding procedures, NDT work, PWHT work and radiograph reports; sign weld and NDT logs.
• Inspect pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pressurised piping and structural works during fabrication, and witness hydrostatic and pneumatic tests.
• Inspect surface preparation, painting and insulation, and raise non-conformance reports and verify corrective and preventive actions.
• Prepare concise weekly and monthly inspection reports.

Required profile

• Degree in mechanical, electrical, welding or metallurgical engineering.
• At least 12 years of experience in onshore and offshore oil and gas or petrochemical third-party inspection, including welding, process piping, mechanical equipment, painting, coating, wrapping, hydro-testing and advanced NDT.
• Experience reviewing and approving multidisciplinary ITPs, procedures, site queries, NCRs and concession requests.
• Proven experience liaising with EPC contractors and CRA pipe-laying barges.
• Very good spoken and written English, including technical reports, procedures and QA/QC documentation.

Required skills

• CSWIP 3.2, AWS-Sr, CWI or ERS welding inspection and PCN level II desirable; BGAS Level 2 or NACE Level 1 certification required.
• Familiarity with ASME, AWS, API, DNV, ISO and BS codes.
• Computer literacy.
