Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Engineer – UAV

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Airframe Systems Design Engineer to lead the design, integration and validation of landing‑gear, fuel, environmental control, hydraulic and actuation systems for UAV platforms. The role is based in Abu Dhabi and involves close collaboration with avionics, propulsion and flight‑control teams.

Key responsibilities

• Own the complete design cycle of mechanical airframe subsystems, from concept through to flight‑test validation.
• Create 3‑D CAD models, detailed drawings and manufacturing documentation using CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
• Perform structural, hydromechanical and thermal analyses to verify sizing under operational loads.
• Define system requirements, interface control documents and bill of materials in line with aerospace standards (MIL‑STD, RTCA DO‑160).
• Support prototype builds, ground testing and flight trials, troubleshooting issues in real time.
• Ensure compliance with airworthiness regulations and defence‑sector quality standards.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to enhance performance, manufacturability and maintainability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in aerospace mechanical systems design, with proven expertise in at least three of: landing gear, fuel systems, ECS, hydraulics, actuation.
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer status and exposure to EASA Part 21 or GCAA DOA is advantageous.
• Certification in systems engineering (INCOSE) or project management (PMP/PRINCE2) is a plus.

Required skills

• 3‑D CAD tools: CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, SolidWorks.
• PLM and GD&T proficiency.
• Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
• Hydraulic and pneumatic system design.
• Fuel system architecture and ECS thermodynamics.
• Knowledge of aerospace materials, manufacturing processes and relevant standards (AS9100, MIL‑STD, DO‑160).
