Mechanical Design Engineer – Bearings, Sumps & Oil Systems

About the role

A leading aerospace and propulsion technology company in Abu Dhabi is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design, integration, and lifecycle development of bearing, sump, and oil lubrication systems for advanced gas‑turbine engines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of bearing compartments, sump housings, oil nozzles, scavenge features and support structures for rotating shafts.
• Develop and manage 3D CAD models and detailed engineering drawings for oil feed/scavenge systems, bearing supports, sump pressurisation, ventilation and dynamic seals.
• Collaborate with stress and thermal analysis teams to evaluate fatigue, static strength, oil‑coking, heat‑rejection and vibration‑induced wear.
• Design and integrate dynamic sealing technologies and oil routing strategies while ensuring serviceability and certification compliance.
• Apply Design for Manufacturability principles, define tolerances, interfaces and joining methods for forged, cast and machined components.
• Support supplier qualification, tooling reviews, producibility assessments and engine build/test readiness.
• Prepare technical documentation, tolerance stack‑up analyses, failure‑mode assessments and material justification for FAA/EASA certification.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading mechanical design of rotating‑support and lubrication systems in aerospace or high‑performance engine environments.
• Strong collaboration skills with stress, thermal and manufacturing teams.
• Ability to produce detailed CAD models, drawings and technical reports that meet certification standards.
