Mechanical Design Engineer - Generator & Data Centre Projects

About the role

A world-renowned power technology leader with over a century of engineering heritage is expanding its Dubai team. The role centres on designing large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure such as generator packages, enclosures, fuel, cooling and exhaust systems and related Balance of Plant equipment. It is based in Dubai, open to applicants across Asia Pacific, with a salary of up to AED 20,000 per month.

Key responsibilities

• Develop mechanical design concepts, layouts, 3D models, detailed drawings and configured engineering Bills of Materials for generator packages, enclosures, fuel, cooling and exhaust systems and associated Balance of Plant equipment.
• Obtain inputs from cross-functional experts and communicate design intent through structured design review packages.
• Lead or support design decisions for component and subsystem concept selection, optimisation and specification.
• Apply design processes and tools such as design reviews, iDFMEA, dimensional variation analysis, GD&T, CREO and ANSYS Workbench.
• Perform or interpret engineering analyses covering structural adequacy, thermal performance, airflow, dimensional variation, equipment integration and component selection.
• Ensure designs comply with customer requirements, project specifications and applicable national and international standards.
• Coordinate with electrical, controls, manufacturing, sourcing, suppliers, project management and service teams so designs are manufacturable, inspectable, installable and serviceable.
• Review supplier drawings and technical submissions, resolve design issues and manage engineering documentation, drawing revisions and engineering changes.
• Support manufacturing, testing, installation, commissioning and field issue resolution, and mentor less-experienced engineers and technicians.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an appropriate STEM field.
• Mechanical design experience in GENSET and/or data centre projects; both combined or either alone is acceptable.
• Preferred: experience in power generation, generator packaging, industrial equipment, fabricated enclosures or Balance of Plant systems.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and 3D CAD tools, preferably CREO.
• Knowledge of GD&T, iDFMEA and ANSYS Workbench is preferred.
