Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer with solid experience in building services for high‑rise residential and commercial towers. The role will involve collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver projects on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform design calculations to optimise systems and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
• Review mechanical system designs (HVAC, fire‑fighting, drainage, water, LPG) and verify they meet the latest energy‑efficiency criteria.
• Propose alternative design solutions to keep projects viable and within budget.
• Provide technical assistance to other departments, liaise with architects and structural engineers, and attend site visits when required.

Required profile

• Good knowledge of buildability and construction techniques.
• Strong analytical and critical‑thinking abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services and chartered membership of a recognised professional body (e.g., CIBSE, ASHRAE).
• Minimum four years of experience on building‑services projects in the Middle East, preferably the UAE.

Required skills

• Proficiency in IES, HAP, Hevacomp and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with international design standards such as BS‑EN, CIBSE, ASHRAE and NFPA.
• Understanding of local statutory regulations and submission requirements in the UAE.
