Mechanical Engineer - Facility Management

About the role

Careers International is hiring a Mechanical Engineer for a Facility Management position in Dubai. The engineer ensures the effective operation, maintenance and optimisation of mechanical systems in the facility, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and building automation systems.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the operation, maintenance and repair of mechanical systems such as HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and pumps, and perform routine inspections and troubleshooting to minimise downtime.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive maintenance (PM) programme for all mechanical systems.
• Support the design, installation and modification of mechanical systems, and help select equipment and materials according to project needs, specifications and budget.
• Coordinate with internal teams and contractors on installations, upgrades and replacements, and ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations and environmental standards.
• Implement energy-saving measures in HVAC and lighting controls, monitor performance and recommend improvements.
• Assist in preparing budgets for maintenance and improvements, and track costs of repairs, parts and new equipment.
• Work with facility management teams, building operators and vendors, and provide technical support to facility staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 3-5 years of experience in mechanical systems maintenance, facility management or related roles.
• Experience with HVAC, plumbing, fire protection systems and building automation systems.
• Additional certifications in Facility Management (e.g. IFMA, BOMA) or HVAC systems are a plus.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including design, installation and maintenance.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar software for system design.
• Problem-solving, project management and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication skills for reporting and coordinating with team members, vendors and contractors.
