Mechanical Engineer – Static Equipment (Oil & Gas)

About the role

The Mechanical Engineer – Static is responsible for ensuring the technical integrity and quality of mechanical engineering activities related to static equipment in oil and gas projects. The role requires independent management of assigned work, delivery of cost‑effective engineering solutions, and support for efficient project delivery in line with schedules and standards.

Key responsibilities

• Execute engineering tasks in compliance with company procedures, international codes and project specifications.
• Review and develop engineering designs, drawings, 3D models, datasheets, material requisitions and technical bid evaluations.
• Perform feasibility studies, calculations, FEA and detailed design of pressure vessels and skid‑based equipment.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers and vendors, and support procurement and technical clarification activities.
• Manage budgets, resource planning and progress reporting for assigned activities.
• Mentor less‑experienced engineers and ensure compliance with HSEQ requirements.

Required profile

• 8‑10 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience in the upstream or downstream oil & gas sector.
• Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent recognized qualification.
• Proven experience in static equipment engineering, including pressure‑vessel design and FEA.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage project deadlines and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of ASME Section VIII Div 1/Div 2, TEMA, PD5500, API 650/660/661 and related international mechanical codes.
• Proficiency with pressure‑vessel design software such as PV‑Elite, Compress, TANK and FEA tools.
• Experience with material specifications (CS, LTCS, SS, CS+Clad, LAS, HAS, NACE MR0175, HIC) for a range of service conditions.
• Ability to develop layout and skid‑based designs and to review engineering documentation.
