Mechanical Field Surveyor – Oil & Gas Equipment

About the role

We are looking for a Mechanical Field Surveyor to carry out on‑site surveys of mechanical equipment in oil & gas and industrial facilities across Abu Dhabi. The role involves identifying, recording and validating technical data of rotating machinery, static equipment, valves and wellhead systems to support asset management databases.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys of rotating machinery, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, diesel engines and related auxiliary systems.
• Identify and record TAG numbers, nameplate data, manufacturer details, model/type and key characteristics of static equipment such as pressure vessels, storage tanks and heat exchangers.
• Read and interpret equipment markings, drawings and basic technical documentation on‑site.
• Assess valves and wellhead components, documenting their type, operating principle and main functions.
• Support the preparation and validation of equipment master data for CMMS/SAP systems.
• Work safely in challenging environments, adhering to HSE requirements and site procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• 2–4 years of relevant field experience in oil & gas, petrochemical or related process industries.
• Practical knowledge of rotating machinery, static equipment, valves and wellhead systems.
• Familiarity with ASME, API and TEMA standards for pressure vessels and heat exchangers.

Required skills

• Ability to recognise and classify rotating equipment and read TAG labels and nameplates.
• Knowledge of static equipment construction and terminology.
• Understanding of valve types, configurations and applications.
• Experience with SAP S/4HANA Plant Maintenance, SAP Fiori and SAP Asset Intelligence Network for equipment master data.
• Basic HSE / site safety training.
