Mechanical Technician for Luxury Hotel

About the role

Mandarin Oriental Jumeira in Dubai seeks a Mechanical Technician to join its Engineering team, responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of hotel mechanical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot HVAC and refrigeration equipment, including heat pumps, AHUs, FCUs, split units, package units, and cold rooms.
• Perform motor, blower bearing, fan bearing replacement and alignment, as well as pump servicing, lubrication, vibration checks, and reassembly.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults in HVAC systems and execute corrective actions, including basic electrical troubleshooting of control circuits, contactors, relays, overloads, sensors, and thermostats.
• Handle refrigerant duties such as leak detection, pressure checks, and charging, and respond promptly to guest room and public area HVAC complaints.
• Coordinate with the engineering team during shutdowns, refurbishments, and preventive maintenance, maintaining accurate logs and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on experience in a luxury hotel engineering department, specifically with HVAC and refrigeration systems.
• Strong practical knowledge of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and mechanical maintenance procedures.
• Ability to replace motors, blower and fan bearings, and service pumps independently.
• Working knowledge of basic electrical systems related to HVAC equipment.
• Physically fit and capable of handling mechanical tools and equipment; flexible to work night shifts and emergency call‑outs.
