Mechanical Technician - Poultry Processing

About the role

A full-time Mechanical Technician is sought for the Maintenance team at Americana Foods in Dubai. The role ensures the mechanical integrity, reliability and efficiency of all plant equipment, including high-speed packaging machinery and equipment in the processing and preparation areas. The ideal candidate has 7 to 9 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician in the poultry processing or food manufacturing industry.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, inspect and maintain poultry processing machinery in the preparation, processing and packing areas, including mixers, grinders, ovens, fryers, conveyors, Ishida, Sandiacre, metal detectors and X-ray systems.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, lubricate with food-grade lubricants, inspect bearings, chains, belts, sprockets, shafts, seals and gearboxes, and keep accurate PM records.
• Respond quickly to breakdowns, identify root causes, repair or replace motors, pumps, valves and pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and test equipment after repair.
• Ensure all work complies with food safety and hygiene standards (HACCP, ISO 22000), use stainless steel fasteners and food-safe materials, and assist in audits and inspections.
• Assist in installing, aligning and commissioning new machines, interpret mechanical drawings and manuals, and coordinate with suppliers during upgrades or shutdowns.
• Complete work orders, breakdown reports, spare parts requests and daily maintenance logs.

Required profile

• 7 to 9 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician in poultry processing or food manufacturing.
• Highly preferred: experience in further processing plants or protein factories, and with JBT, GEA, BW Flexible, Ishida and packaging machinery.
• Experience with pumps and pipelines, and monitoring abnormal vibration, noise or leaks.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using CMMS
• Knowledge of HACCP and ISO 22000
