Mechanical Technician Trainee

About the role

Mirfa International Power & Water Company (MIPCO) in Mirfa, Abu Dhabi, is hiring a Mechanical Technician Trainee. The post is reserved for male UAE nationals holding a family book, and all workplace communication is 100% in English, so fluency is required. The purpose of the job is to keep the plant's mechanical equipment properly maintained to optimise reliability and availability, in line with OEM guidelines and maintenance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out daily mechanical maintenance, including troubleshooting, preventive and corrective maintenance.
• Follow all safety, environmental and quality protocols.
• Take part in work planning, reporting and use of the CMMS (Maximo).
• Maintain high quality standards and finish tasks within deadlines and budget.
• Be ready for emergency call-outs and provide 24-hour plant support.
• Support and cooperate with multicultural team members and contractors.

Required profile

• 1-2 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in power plant environments, or a trainee position for fresh graduates.
• Diploma in engineering or equivalent certification.
• Knowledge of health and safety practices and plant isolation procedures.
• Strong team collaboration and communication skills, with a commitment to safety and teamwork.
• Problem-solving and decision-making under pressure, organisational skills and a continuous improvement mindset.

Required skills

• Troubleshooting and maintaining various mechanical systems.
• Computer literacy and good command of English.
• Effective use of the Maximo system.

Working hours are Monday to Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm, with Friday 7:30am to 3:15pm and an hour prayer break. Candidates must stay near the site during shift days and be flexible to report to duty in case of an emergency.
